ViewSonic WinXP MID
ViewSonic is proudly showing off its mobile Web device (MID) which is powered by Windows XP. While the full specifications for the device aren’t available just yet, we do know that it should be powered by a 1.1GHz Intel Atom Z510 processor, sport a touchscreen, 1GB or RAM, 10GB of built-in storage and the ability to connect to 3G documents networks. Aside from that, there is plus a built-in tuner and antenna to receive digital TV broadcasts. There isn’t any word just yet as to when the ViewSonic N01 will be released, or at what cost.

Here’s one of those DIY toys that remind us that learning can be fun and educational at the same moment. The Fuel Car and Experiment X7 kit will allow you to assemble the car, and additionally hook it up to the fuel cell that will be powering it. Thanks to the fuel cell, your car will be powered by water. It’s suitable for kids 10 years and above, and will set you back $99.95.
HTC Capacitive Stylus Is Here
It looks like HTC wasn’t just fooling around when it submitted that patent application for a “capacitive stylus” a while ago. An online retailer has listed such an item, so it seems like it has become a reality. It’s currently listed at £15 ($25), and apparently it will be shipping with the HTC HD2. Would you want a stylus to go with your HTC HD2, or would you rather stick to finger based input?
Nokia Busted For N900 SNES Emulator
Nokia’s certainly putting a lot of effort into promoting its N900, but it seems that it might have gone a step too far with its latest video (which has since be yanked off YouTube). It was boasting that the N900 could run emulators and showed it running SNES emulators, which is fine, but the problem is that they showcased a video of Super Mario World and Super Ghouls and Ghosts in that emulator and noted that “some emulators require separate ROM images to play games”. Archos To Release Developer Firmware
It looks like Archos is quite supportive of developers, evidenced by its recent PR that confirms that the company is making a proof-of-concept “developer edition” firmware for its ARCHOS 5 and ARCHOS 7 World Wide Web Media Tablets. The firmware will be based on the Angstrom Linux distribution, though it certainly isn’t meant to be a commercial distro. Are you planning to tweak your Archos device with that when it’s released?
LG Arena Max Coming
Some data regarding the successor to the LG Arena has surfaced, thanks to the Wi-Fi Alliance. The device will be called the LG Arena Max, though not much else is known about it, aside that it will (obviously) sport Wi-Fi. Aside from retaining the touchscreen capability, it’s believed that it won’t be using a smartphone-grade operating system such as Windows Mobile or Android, which is a slight disappointment.
Apple Mac mini Is Environmentally Friendly
It looks like Apple’s constant effort towards greener computing is paying dividends as sust-it, the website which provides rankings of energy usage and annual energy cost for thousands of devices, has announced that Apple’s Mac mini bags the top 4 spots for most efficient desktop computer in the latest listing. Said Mac only consumes .94W when turned off, 1.71W in sleep mode and 12.6W when turned on and left in idle mode. While not everybody will care too much about green computing, it’s still good to see Apple focusing on it.
Samsung Bada On Dec 8?
It seems that Samsung’s recently announced mobile OS – bada, will be launched on December 8, which is about 2 weeks away. Based on the data we’ve picked up, Samsung will be holding a press event in London on said term, and details on the OS will be revealed to everybody. It will be interesting to see how well the Samsung bada performs in the faraway run though, particularly whether you take into detail the increasing popularity of Google’s Android OS.
