Google Offers Half Million E-books For Sony Readers

If you’re big on electronic books as well as an e-book reader, next we have good news for you. Google is offering half a million public domain titles that are currently available to PC users via Google Book to folks who own Sony’s reader device, making their collection the largest available for just about any e-book format (even after taking the Amazon Kindle into consideration). What Google did here was not evil, as they converted the scanned text to the open ePub eBook format that makes room for proper lineation and formatting. While that won’t tilt the dynamics amoung the Kindle and Sony PRS towards the latter in any way, it could help give Sony’s owners something to smile about.
