Toshiba Ships 32nm NAND Flash Memory

Toshiba has begun to ship its new 32nm NAND flash memory that was originally supposed to be out that fall, which is always good news for us consumers as that means we ought to be able to get hold of our own units by July at best. The new 32nm process enables a solitary thin 4GB chip to be stacked with up to eight of them, making way for a 32GB NAND flash memory in a individual package. The future will plus see Toshiba ship half-density, 16-gigabit (2GB) chips using a similar process that fall. It is interesting to note that Toshiba could be one of the many 2009 iPhone suppliers, which would point towards an iPhone 3G 32GB model in the near future.
